MY BROTHER'S KEEPER'S PARK
Fall 2013 | Design Studio III | Professor Scott Erdy | In collaboration with Kaihong Chang, Rose Florian, Nathan Galvez, Nathan Hammitt, Bailong Liu, Nicholas Mariakis, Anoop Patel, Anyi Song, Emma Tyrer, Greg Whitney, Inhea Youm, and Michael Zimmerman
This project was designed and built for My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), a homelessness and substance abuse rehabilitation organization in Camden, New Jersey.
A studio design competition was held to design benches that would be used at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design’s Idea Days event. These benches would then be reused as concrete formwork for permanent concrete benches at the MBK Park. Two bench designs were selected to be built.
The park design consisted of cleaning, and adding benches and wall art to a corner lot adjacent to MBK’s rehabilitation center. This park would serve as a space for study, relaxation, and socialization.
