HEALTH TRUCK HUB
Spring 2013 | Design Studio II | Professor Annette Fierro
This project aims to improve healthcare access and outcomes in Philadelphia by enacting an efficient and cost-effective system of health trucks and community health workers to overcome healthcare disparities, integrate healthcare into people’s everyday lives, and encourage physical activity.
Initiatives to increase and improve the green space network in Philadelphia are currently being implemented. The mobile health network works with the green space network to improve community health. The Health Truck Hub expands and supports Philadelphia’s green space network by using the green spaces as locations for health trucks.
The Health Truck Hub itself serves as the headquarters for community health workers and the fleet of mobile health trucks that serve the surrounding neighborhoods. The facility also functions as a multipurpose green space for community events, socialization, relaxation, recreation, and exercise.
